INDEPENDENT WINE SHOP · DORSET
Wine should feel like a conversation, not a test.
I started Bit Thirsty because I wanted a wine shop that felt like getting advice from a friend who genuinely knows their stuff — not a lecture, not a list, just honest guidance toward something you'll love.
A life spent around good food, wine and warm company.
I grew up around a table that took these things seriously — not in a stuffy way, but in the way that good things make life genuinely better. Food eaten slowly, wine chosen with care, evenings that went on longer than planned. That early love sent me somewhere I didn't expect: deep into the world of wine, and I haven't really surfaced since.
Over the last decade I've worked in and around wine in almost every way — in vineyards, in independent wine shops, running tastings, discovering producers who make things the right way. I've spent time in wine regions across Europe, Australia and South Africa, learning what good viticulture actually looks like from the inside, and what separates the bottles worth seeking out from the ones that just look the part.

WSET Level 4 Diploma in Wines — one of the highest qualifications in the wine industry
I wanted to build a wine shop that felt different. Nothing beats introducing someone to a wine they end up genuinely loving — that's the whole job.
That's what Bit Thirsty is. — Jack Priestley, Founder
